Krista Cameron
Featured Artist for July and August
The
feel of clay and the challenge that it presents has turned into a passion to
make beautiful things for everyday life.
Krista
Cameron grew up near Brockville.
She has a degree in Classical Studies from Brock University. She has been making pottery for 15
years and has a Diploma in Ceramics from St. Lawrence College. She has been participating in regional
exhibits and sales since 1998. Her
current studio is found near Charleston Lake nestled amongst the rocks and pine
trees, a beautiful setting which she endeavors to capture in her art. The
addictive feel of clay has made pottery an obsession for Krista when striving
for skilled craftsmanship with the aesthetics of fine art.
I am really excited about this new work which is the result of a confluence of equipment which I purchased from the now defunct Brockville Pottery School. The clay came from Grenville Christian College and glases from a friend who was cleaning house. A large influence was Carol Norcot, whom I "claygiarized" the blue bird from. The technical details you should know are that this work is low fired meaning that it is food safe but unlike my mid fire work, it might not hold up in the dish washer, so must be hand washed. Each piece is hand painted with Chinese brushes.
Thank you for indulging me in colour and my favourite subject matters, food, flowers, fish and birds. Also, a huge thank you to Linda Price Bennett, Celia Kaniz and Carol Norcot for creating the perfect creative storm.
Enjoy your limited edition piece of low fired clay...
