Gallery 6 is the home of the Chicks, all with a passion for art.  Although each uses a different medium, it is this passion that has brought them together, and it is their desire to share that passion that has created Gallery 6, where their work can be viewed and purchased.

To keep things fresh and exciting new works are added frequently.  As well, there is a guest artist and calls for submissions throughout the year that add to the already fine mix of art.

Each artist is very involved with community events, online competition, and other juried shows.  We also have some published works in both magazines and books.  Courses are also offered at Gallery 6 through the Art and Clay workshops as well as a beginner Dslr course with more in the line up each year.
Check out our calendar of events where this information will be posted regularly.

Now lets meet the Chicks.........

Rain Kazymerchyk

Rain Kazymerchyk was born & raised in New York State. Her love of jewelry began at birth; it came with the territory of being born a girl.

In 1979, on a school trip to see the treasures of King Tut, Rain was amazed with what could be done with precious metals. Unfortunately, at the time, the idea to pursue a career in design didn’t occur to her. With no formal training beyond high school she learned to use her artistic talents through self expression, community classes and lots of experimentation.

Rain attended  silver smithing, glass fusing & bead making classes in Tampa, Florida where she lived for ten years.

In 2001, after meeting her husband on the World Wide Web, she moved to South Mountain.

Rain is a member of the Metal Arts Guild of Canada and is a past member of the North Grenville Arts Guild. Her work has been shown at Jacaranda  (formerly the Keffer Gallery) in Almonte, ON, the Brockville Arts Centre, Spencerville Mill, North Gower Discovery Tour, On Common Ground Studio Tour and her work can also be seen online at www.rainkazymerchyk.com and www.artinmetal.vstore.ca where she also retails jewelry created by others.

Carol Pillar

The Ottawa area has always been home for Carol. Her interest in Art preceded any formal training, which began in 1979, with a two-year Art Program at the High School of Commerce in Ottawa.  Studies continued with a Diploma in Commercial Art from Algonquin College, and independent studies in watercolor, design, life drawing, photography, and stained glass at the Ottawa School of Art, the Nepean Visual Arts Center and Algonquin College.

Carol is particularly fond of the Canadian landscape. As an artist, her subject matter depicts this fondness. Watercolour and pastel have become the ideal mediums for expressing her love of color and light. She takes a realistic approach to the local landscape. Her hope is to catch your eye. To make you stop. To observe, and to feel the moment. To capture this colour and light, Carol also creates custom designed stained  glass panels and gift items.

Her style has been influenced by 12 years as an illustrator with the Federal Archaeology Office of Parks Canada. Carol’s contributions to the research team include artifact and shipwreck reconstructions used in the History Hall at the Museum of Civilization, pen and ink drawings from Marine Parks and National Historic Sites across Canada, and of particular note, illustrations related to the wreck of the “San Juan”, in the publication ‘The Underwater Archaeology of Red Bay’.

Carol’s work has been displayed in North Gower at Rosebud’s Stationery, the Rideau Nursery, in the September “Discovery Tour”, and the local Farmers Market; in Merrickville at the M.O.T.H. Gallery; at the Balderson Art Gallery; The Glebe Art Show and in Kemptville at The Branch Restaurant. She is an active member of the North Gower Artists’ Society, The Branch Artisans group and of course, Kemptville’s Gallery 6.

Wendy Stevenson

Wendy is a self taught photographer obsessed with experimentation in the visualization of her surroundings.

Her strength as a photographer and an artist lies in her ability to instinctually compose, regardless of situation, subject or environment, with resulting artistic rendering of sublime tastefulness and meaning.

Growing up in the broad bountiful beauty of Canada influenced, to a great degree, her development as a visual composer.  Her composition in each category of images represent the highest form of compliment an artist may pay to their surroundings and global neighbours.  Wendys kind-hearted love and selfless caring for everyone and everything around her is expressed within the border of each image.  Her images are timeless and alive; melting into a viewers heart with a force much like a drop of rain on a thirsty flower petal.  Visually stunning and compositionally refreshing, her images, most of which are award-winning work of evident art, can transform any location in which they are found into an oasis of celebration for the meaningful aspects found in man and nature.

Over the last 6 years Wendys images have won numerous awards in international competitions, have been printed in both magazines and books and have graced the walls of many homes.  She has also had the pleasure of teaching a photography co-op course at one of the local high schools, mentoring up and coming young photographers.  She also does photo restoration and custom collages.

Moira Law

Moira was drawn to photography as an art form for many years, having taken thousands of pictures in the days of film and darkrooms. In time she became discouraged by the use of chemicals and wastefulness of film and turned her attention to other artistic forms. But the potential unleashed with the advent of the digital age has caused her to come back to the favourite pursuit of her youth.

Moira is largely self-taught.  Assisted by the occasional art or photography course or seminar, she learns from whatever sources present themselves to her, including on-line resources and her own experiences.  Helpful colleagues have encouraged her and provided insights and given her new techniques to try.  Fully aware that "everyone has a camera" she strives to find something original to say with her photographs.

Moira first started sharing the results of her work online, under the name Em Larsson.  Moira's alter ego is currently a much better known photographer than Moira is, at least in the cyber-world.  (See
www.eminentimages.ca)  Her success and the enthusiasm of her on-line fans have encouraged her to present her work in the "real" world.
Moira has typically concentrated on natural subject, especially the flowers and plants she finds in the woodlot around her home.  But in the last year she has had the good fortune to travel to Scotland, England, New York City and Egypt, to turn her lens on more exotic subjects.  Nevertheless, flowers remain her favourite photographic subject.  Moira hopes you enjoy seeing these as much as she enjoys photographing them.
